Marco Rubio vs. Obama

Who are you going to vote for? Well, thus far, Marco Rubio has my vote. Why? Because he seems to know exactly what he wants to do as soon as he takes office. We share the same stances on topics like ISIS, Syrian refugees, and abortion. We need a strong president like Marco Rubio who has a plan to wipe out ISIS, rather than a president like Obama who is choosing to sit back and watch. We need a president who believes in our safety first and who wants to make this country great again. Lastly, we need a president who is going to do what he has promised us, unlike Obama

In my Government class at All Saints Episcopal School, we have been following the presidential debates. And a major question is what do you plan to do about ISIS? This question for a lot of people will make or break you as a presidential candidate. Marco Rubio criticizes Obama for “dithering” and “deferring leadership,” in an op-ed for Politico and then went on to say this, “When I am president, what I will do to defeat ISIL is very simple: whatever it takes.” (-CNN) This was really the beginning of my support for Rubio. Rubio laid out his four point plan for defeating ISIS, stopping the flow of refugees into the U.S.; removing military budget cuts imposed under sequestration; make the U.S. armed forces mission “total destruction of ISIL” including ground troops; and maintaining his support for a no-fly zone in Syria.

Rubio also made an appropriate stance on Syrian refugees and his opposition to admitting more Syrians.  “You can’t let people in unless they can pass a background check,” he argued, adding, “What’s so outrageous about that?” “The number one obligation of the federal government,” Rubio said, “is to keep us safe. This is not about slamming the door on anybody.” Who is to disagree with that? It isn’t about racism or just being selfish and not letting anyone in, it’s about the safety of the American people. Obama calls rejection of Syrian refugees a “betrayal of our values.” Are we supposed to just let anyone in that is going through hard times in third world countries? Are we supposed to risk our safety to let in Syrians without background checks? No. This is why I side with Marco Rubio on this subject.

Abortion, one of the most highly debated topics in American history. It is a subject that is all based off personal beliefs. Obama is by far the most pro-abortion president we’ve ever had. He is a full supporter of the operation which is much different from not only my beliefs, but Rubio’s as well. “I personally and deeply believe that all human life is worthy of the protection of our laws. I do. And I believe that irrespective of the conditions by which that life was conceived, or anything else, and for me to be consistent on that belief,” Rubio said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” I completely agree that a human life is a human life, and as long as a poor defenseless child in the womb is breathing, then it shouldn’t be harmed in any way. I understand the argument that some people just aren’t ready to be parents yet but my argument back is, then don’t have sex! Adoption is a better outlet than abortion. At least give the child a chance to make something of him/herself.

Marco Rubio is a good candidate for the US presidency for many reasons. He is a man that will keep his word and do what he says he’ll do. He wants to defeat ISIS, keep the citizens of America safe, and to abolish abortion. Marco Rubio will do his very best to make America great again and that is why he has my support.
