United States: Our Economy’s Future

The United States currently has the world’s largest economy followed by China. The United States is often referred as to the “Land of Opportunity” because of its easy way to make a prosperous living. But as a whole nation we are currently phasing economical instability.  Other countries are dependent on the United States’ economy since we provide a huge portion of the overall world’s stock market. Professor Deaton in the article Economic Growth is the Answer to Poverty & Inequality argues that economic growth is essential for the escape from poverty and material deprivation. Professor Angus Deaton makes arguably a solid point about the importance economic growth for our country’s future. However, the United States needs to make a few changes first in order to have a stronger economy, such as: taking action in slowing down global warming, controlling its governmental issues and oil industry.

As scientist experts have already proven, we are experiencing global warming, and it is getting a lot worse. Global warming is caused by the increased levels of carbon dioxide and other pollutants in the air, which then lead to cause a ‘greenhouse effect’ in our atmosphere. According to NASA’s Climate change: How do we know? article, “warming has occurred since the 1970s, with the 20 warmest years having occurred since 1981 and with all 10 of the warmest years occurring in the past 12 years.” As a result of this, it has been scientifically proven that global warming does exist and we are currently making it a worse catastrophe. The United States might have the largest economy, but it is also the couFeatured imagentry that is most responsible for pollution. It is time for a change, and it is time for the United States to do something about this environmental issue. If we start taking more eco friendly decisions, it could help stabilize the United States’ economy. According to globalissues.org, “Many are afraid that tackling climate change is going to be too costly. But increasingly, studies are showing action will not just be cheaper than inaction, but could actually result in economic, environmental and even health benefits, while improving sustainability.” Globalissues.org not only confirms that taking action in global warming will be better for us and the environment, but will also improve economic stability.

Furthermore, the United States needs to stabilize its political aspect in order to have economic growth. A nation is run by the government and if the government has stability the country will run smoothly as a result. Countries such as Denmark, Norway and Australia not only have powerful economies but also have the world’s most responsible governments. According to Forbes: The World’s 10 Best Governments article, they rank Denmark, Norway and Sweden as the top three most responsible governments in the world. These countries not only share responsible governments but have also strong economies by having low unemployment rates, being very environmentally friendly and producing large amounts of oil. The United States needs to come up with a national agreement in ways that we can minimize national debt.

Oil and gas are the most important underground resources we have. They serve Featured imagenot only as a supply of energy for heat and power, but oil is also found in everyday items, such as medicines, plastics, and clothing. Business Insider article 15 Countries Sitting On Gigantic Oceans Of Oil, ranks the United States in the twelfth place for the country with the largest reserve of oil. The oil production in the United States currently it is at the highest as it has ever been. The United States needs to use this as an advantage and start producing in high quantity to then also start exporting oil to other countries. Currently, the oil industry can be the gateway of economic growth for the United States, by creating jobs and having playing an important role in the oil industry throughout the world.

In order for the United States to have a stronger economy, we have to take action in slowing down global warming, controlling its governmental issues and oil industry. By taking these steps, our economy, as a result, will see a growth. Although we are facing economic instability at the moment, taking action now will make a drastic difference then.
